Juneteenth, or African American Emancipation Day, is the oldest recognized celebration of the end of slavery in the United States, tracing its origins to Galveston, Texas in 1865. Today, Juneteenth celebrates freedom and encourages self-development and respect for all cultures.
The Evansville African American Museum invites you to take part in our 2009 Juneteenth Celebration on Friday, June 19th at 6 p.m. Join us for food, fun and festivities. Admission is $5. For more information, contact Aretha at (812) 492-3967.
