The Evansville African American Museum is sponsoring a road trip back in time to the Wessyngton Plantation and The Adams Museum on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The tour is $55 per person and includes:
- A special guided tour of Wessyngton Plantation by John F. Baker Jr., author of “The Washingtons of Wessyngton Plantation: Stories of My Family’s Journey to Freedom.”
- Evansville resident Mattie Miller and other slave descendants will share the stories of their ancestors.
- Admission to the Adams Museum in Adams, Tenn. and a sumptuous Southern-style lunch prepared by the Old School Cafeteria. (You can make entree and dessert selections when you register).
The price, including transportation, is $55 per person and is nonrefundable once your reservation is placed. The tour will depart at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 20 from the parking lot of the C.K. Newsome Center, 100 E. Walnut St., and return the same day. Reservation deadline is June 10. To reserve your seat, call the museum at (812) 423-5188.
