Welcome to the Evansville African American Museum!

Welcome to the online home of the Evansville African American Museum!

Our mission is to develop and maintain a resource and cultural center to collect, preserve and interpret the history and traditions of African American families, organizations and communities. The museum is located in a restored portion of the Lincoln Gardens federal housing project in Evansville, Indiana, just east of Downtown Evansville.

Our museum features interactive exhibits as well as a showcase of early life in Lincoln Gardens.

Museum hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays, though special showings can be arranged by appointment.

Telephone: (812) 423-5188

Our Web site is currently under development. We hope you will take the time to visit the museum this summer and check back soon to see what’s new at our online home.
