Welcome to the online home of the Evansville African American Museum!
Our mission is to develop and maintain a resource and cultural center to collect, preserve and interpret the history and traditions of African American families, organizations and communities. The museum is located in a restored portion of the Lincoln Gardens federal housing project in Evansville, Indiana, just east of Downtown Evansville.
Our museum features interactive exhibits as well as a showcase of early life in Lincoln Gardens.
Museum hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays, though special showings can be arranged by appointment.
